The Year of the Scarf ...

See ... I finished another Christmas gift. For a grand daughter this time. Crocheted. Using left over Debbie Bliss Cashmerino. Left over from the Shoreline Cape I did. The pattern is the one I use in my beginner's crochet class. It comes in handy to crochet along with the class. I not only demonstrate the stitches but I also have a completed object when I'm done.

And in one afternoon (last Sunday) I started and finished this little crocheted scarf.

Crocheted Lace Scarf

This is the One Skein Scarf by Denise Cozzitorto but I used 2 balls of Knit Picks Andean Silk only because of the yardage per ball. But this yarn is so soft. I used some left over pink & grey yarn to weave in the center stitches to give it a more 3-demenional look and color interest. I have 2 more of the Andean Silk so I just might make another. Or wait ... maybe I'll do Knucks gloves.

Wait ... I also did another Ruffled Up Scarf. The yarn is ONline Linie 194 Solo and I used 4 balls of it. I like it long. This is a silly and fun knit.

I don't have a clue on who might gift this to.

I'll just knit, knit, knit and will decide later.

Do I ever finish anything?

Well it seems like I'm always a starter and have so many projects "in the works" that I couldn't possibly be a finisher. But ... I finally (once again) finished two projects. Both are for Christmas gifts and both are scarves. I asked my daughter if she ever wore a scarf because I never saw her wearing one. She said, "I don't. But, I would if you made me one." Now that's what I like to hear. Do you think the two recipients of the scarves below might feel that way also? Maybe?

This one is the Tainted Scarf from the Colourscape Collection. Fast & Easy! Of course I used Kaffe Fasset's Colourscape chunky wool yarn.

I love the mix of colors in this!

And finally the Elvera Lace Scarf for my step-daughter is done also. I used JaggerSpun Zephyr wool/silk in DK weight. Such a beautiful yarn to knit with.

I love lace! Look at it up close. Nice huh?

I even finished a square for a donation to the blankets being put together for the Pine Street Inn progect.

Simple pattern, but soft and warm. That's what they need.

And of course I started another Christmas present. This one is for my other sister in law. Another one from the Colourscape Collection. It's called Ombre.

I look at that name and I think ... I'm one "tough ombre" to think I could possibly knit all my gifts this year. Don't stop me now ...

I'm on a roll!

Red Scarf Project at M.I.T.

We ended up with twenty (20!) scarves - 18 were mailed today, and two others will be mailed separately. Hurray to all participates!

Here's two pictures of about 16 of them before they got boxed up. I understand the others come by before the box got taped up for the mail.

Thanks to The Dilettante Debutante for getting them sent on their way ...

As well as our photographer, FemiKnit Mafia and Aswim In Knits for bringing the camera.

Now how in the world did I forget my camera? Owwwee, off to Community Night Knitting to get the cobwebs out of my head!

Good work girls!!

Did you think ...

I dropped off the face of the earth?

I've been too busy to Blog ... between work, knitting class and The Red Scarf Project. The SnB group at M.I.T. decided to each knit and send scarves out as a group during our Independent Activity Period (IAP) this year. So I had to get that scarf done ... it was weighing me down ... and has to go out with the others this Thursday. I was so ready to finally finish it this morning and here it is now all blocked and ready to go. Along with a scarf I knit last year. I had decided to donate it to the Project also ... just in case I didn't get the red one done.

But I did it!

I'm done, done done ...

Another reason you haven't seen much of me this week is because I'm in another knitting contest. Yup. This time it's for the Seed Stitch Fine Yarn store. They're having a contest for a Tea Cozy design. So I've got my design drawn out on paper and I can picture it perfectly in my head ... my mind's eye can see it perfectly. Now if only I can pull it off! I'll take progress pictures as I go and will reveal all once I have it down at the Seed Stitch on display. The way the voting works this time ... is, votes will be put in by the customers that go into the store. All entries will be on display for everyone to pick their favorites.

Tea Cozy Contest begins March 1st. One month to make a tea cozy of your choice. Knitted or crochet. All cozy's are due, completed, and in the store on the 31st of March. Then they will let the public decide on their favorite. Winner receives tea for two at the Old Ritz in Boston.

(it's now called Taj Boston.) I SO WANT TO WIN this one!

So for now, I'll leave you with a little Mosaic from knitting class ...
