Y = Yarn Obsession

I know I've gotten really, really, really obsessive over yarn ...

and I won't bore you with all of the pictures. But if you're on Ravelry you can always go check out my Stash. Witness my guilty impulsive compulsion to buy more yarn and squirrel it away. For a rainy day you say? Retirement? For when I have no time [or money] to go to my local yarn shop? I've got it all right here don't I? Lining the walls and keeping the Winter winds out perhaps.

But at times ... well, I do make some up into something to keep me warm.



And then I have more room for more YARN.

A whirlwind weekend ...

is exactly what I had.

Went up to New Hampshire to see the kiddos ...

Then the first Beginner's Crochet Class started on Sunday at Seed Stitch Fine Yarn. I'll be teaching the class for the next two Sundays as well. We're doing the Wave Scarf. My test crocheter, Sandy (blogless) from Hemet, CA sent me a picture of hers. Isn't it perrrty?


I'll show you a picture of our progress from the class after the 3rd & last class. There are 7 of us in all. Two hours went by really fast!

BTW, check out who will be at Seed Stitch on May 3rd. Kristin Nicolas, author of Colorful Stitchery and Kristin Knits. I've already signed up for her lecture and workshop. The workshop is on "Learning to fringe while knitting, decorative embroidery, zipper installation, and duplicate stitches."
I'm looking forward to this!

And then of course I had to start something new. Had to buy new yarn for it too. Why not knit up "All Ruffled Up" by Champayne Maker? Seed Stitch just got some of her patterns and there are quite a few I've been wanting to do. So I'll knit this one first ...

Never mind the other WIP's for now, hey.

They're getting done slow but sure. Like the Mystic Shawl ...
I'm on clue 4 now
and this Wednesday is the 5th and last one.

And the others will wait for me. You remember the Einstein Coat?
Not going anywhere.

Heaven forbid that I get this one done ...

After all ... I have plenty of the Tissue Cozies to put together also.

Didn't stop me from buying more yarn at Seed Stitch tho ...

And why not add to my sock yarn from Yarn Chef, huh?

Well I have more than one obsession I'm afraid!

A wonderful weekend!

At last we have some sun ALL weekend! Comfortable temperatures and it's easy to find a reason to get out and about. Went Antiquing with the kids ... a DD and SIL up the seacoast thru Essex into Gloucester. Sat outside on a deck at Periwinkles in Essex, MA for lunch.

And of course I spent a little money in a couple of the antique stores. They're not antiques, but one is old and the other is funny. [with wool appliqué too] Since I live in Salem, MA, I thought we needed a couple of black cats.


It was also a great weekend to finish a couple of projects. The first one was completed out on the back patio while I sat in the morning sun. That was before we got the call to go antiquing ... and I got a quick picture. I must knit a pair of sock earrings to go with these also!

Ah spring ... I finally got to see the crocus open up before they pass on until next Spring.


Oh ya ... I've got YARN PORN too!

Got my recent purchases out so that I can make my plans on the next two projects to get working on. One for at home and the other while commuting on the train, remember? I'd like to start a Summer sweater shell, but I also want to work on a special project for a friend and still work on socks while commuting. Ah, what to do, what to do? Well for you're enjoyment, here are a bunch of pictures to get your taste buds going and work up an appetite to knit more ...

I'm hoping someone will add to my flock, 'coz other than the pocketbook and my measuring tape, this is the only sheep I have. [Yup, Haddy I knit her myself. Has a sister still on the needles too.] But I can't imagine anyone having as many as Rhonda at Knit Obession does. I don't even think I have enough room for that many.
