Help me pick ...

Beads.

I'm knitting the Budding Shawlette (a free pattern on Ravelry) by Joyce (YuLian) Yu again but this time with Cascade Heritage Sock Yarn and some beads.

But I have a problem.

Which color should I use? I had asked some friends before I started for their opinion and the majority said the clear crystal. (I was partial to the green myself) So I decided on the clear crystal and once I started I wasn't so sure I like all that bright 'sparkle' look. It just didn't seem like 'me'. So I put a few rows of the green in for a comparison. They run along the flower bud stems. See the green in the rows below the needle cord?

What you do think?
(that is the real color of the yarn BTW; a pea yellow ... I know it's odd but I really like it!)

I do like the green ... BUT then I would have to go back to the beginning and start over. Would it be worth the extra effort? Or is the crystal your pick and I'm just 'nuts'??

Which color would you pick?

What do YOU think I should do?? (I really do want your opinion, really I do.)

personnally, I prefer the crystal, as they are more noticable. be a shame having to tink back, how about placing the beads as they are now set? so many layers of crystal, then one layer of green, until completion?

I like the crystal. It's hard to see the green.
My vote. Crystal.

Thanks for your inputs, Enid & CJ. The green is harder to see in the pictures than they are in person. The crystals have an "in-your-face" glitter to them really. I'm still honestly not sure. My DH is no help at all ... he says "they both look great". Sigh.

I *love* the green! Then again I'm alternating mine between a dark green and an aqua on purple yarn so what do I know? LOL I say leave the clear ones. They are close to the neck edge so I don't think they'd be too noticeable

I like the green, but then, I'm more of a subtle person. =D I'm sure it will look gorgeous either way, though!

You could do alternating stripes of each. It would look interesting and also save you the tinking.

Well it's been settled ... I'm going to keep adding the green, leaving the crystal that's there already in place at the back of the neck. On the final chart at the end I will switch back from the green to the crystal or alternate betw buds with crystal & green and the final peaks on the last row will be crystal.

That's now the plan anyways. Loving it so far!

I like the green too. Glad you decided to go with it. I haven't used beads in any knitting yet - not sure I have the brain cells to do that though, lol. Can't wait to see the finished shawl!
