Drum Roll Please!

I've finished my Wundertüte [Miracle Bag] Contest entry for Strickanleitungen. [BTW, a note has been added below in red ... ]

The "Miracle Bag" I think is the fact that I paid the postage to have 150 grams of yarn [from Germany] sent to me of unspecified brand or quality and I was to design something non-wearable with it. I was allowed to add no more than 50 grams of my own yarn. And that was it.

Here's what Angela sent me: It's a Cotton/Acrylic blend. Washable. Which helped to know in order for me to decide what I would design. A nice quality yarn, but the colors would be too drab alone, don't you think? I needed to "punch it up" so I got the color I thought I needed and would give me that punch ...

Works?
Rowan Wool Cotton!
Now isn't this a little more interesting than with the pink & plum alone?

I've sent my entry in and Angela has posted it. The voting doesn't start until after January 7th tho, because that's the deadline for all entries to be in. I'll post a link below so you can go and check out all the entries. I hope you'll come back and VOTE next week also. There are some very cute, unusual or interesting knits created by others. A lot of bags and toys! But also a few very original items. Take a peek. But before you do ....

Here's mine up close ....

Have you guessed what it is yet?

No?

Did I hear that drum roll?

What do you think? Is it okay for my first design? BTW, I've been asked if the center portion is knitted. Yes it is. Only the green boarder is crocheted and it is the Crab Stitch. I always called it reversed crochet, but maybe a Knitter gave it the name "crab stitch" ... because crocheting makes some knitters "crabby?" Haha, I don't know, but the center portion is a stitch that I found in a book I have from the 80's and it reminded me of Latice Work and therefore = Spring! Yup, a Springtime Place mat.
To heck with the tea ... I need some wine. Time for a knitty break, LOL!

Check out the other entries also ... right here.

That is very clever! It's really impressive for a first design - very creative. Well done!

Your placemat is awesome! I would never have thought to make something like that...in fact, I probably wouldn't have been able to come up with anything. Very creative for sure!

Wow, this deserves a drum roll big time - it's amazing, absolutely! That Gedifra yarn is so yummy, but with the one you added it is all the more special! I'll be heading right over to that page and as soon as the voting begins I'll give my vote for you - you certainly deserve to win!

The voting has begun ... so as soon as I know if everyone [or if members only] can vote, I'll let you know.
In the mean time, Happy Knitting ...
