One foot in front of the other ...

I finished my Bird of Paradise socks from the Sundara Yarns Petals Collection. It has a slip-stitch rib all the way from cuff to toe. I love them a lot, but boy do they look different from Two Sharp Sticks! Hers are lovely and I love it even when stripping yarn pools, but the pools are wild on hers and only slight on mine (if at all). Really gives them a different look and color don't you think? I wonder why? Do you think it's the needles I used or the way the yarn was dyed? My gauge is different and I knit a different size maybe? It's a mystery to me that they could be SO different!!
This is how my skein started out, Eyeknit! Is it the same as yours started out in life?

I'm still just so amazed that the two pair could be so different from each other using the very same pattern. And I can see by your close ups that we did them the same.

A knitting mystery!
Only the knitting gods know the answer.

Look who I went to see this weekend ...Happy Birthday Jayden

It was her first birthday party! And here are some more of my favorite Munchikins ...

Or rather, the Girls! It's Jayden's First Birthday Party

And just days before, Jayden finally started to walk. Jayden is walking at 12 months
One foot in front of the other ... Go girl go!

And the contest is still on for "Name My Teacozy" ...
I'll pick out the best 10 by Thursday afternoon and have the judges pick from those on Friday.

Happy knitting!

Wow! You're right--they look completely different from mine! I love how yours read as pinkish...was your skein divided into equal thirds of yellow, green and coral? Mine was. They are lovely.

It is weird how different your socks turned out. Hers were so nice and bright. I don't think your stitch gauge could have been so far off that you wouldn't get more pooling than what you got. It looks like hers has more green in the yarn and yours has more orange. They are pretty though.

Wow. There's a huge difference between yours and hers. Crazy. Also, the difference between your skein and the socks - amazing. I have such trouble seeing a skein and knowing how it will knit up. Some have that talent, but I'm not one of them.
Ms. Jayden sure is adorable! Go girl, go!

It is amazing the difference between the two pairs... you wouldn't actually know it was the same yarn at all. Your socks look great! I can't believe Jayden is already a year old - wow time does fly. Thanks for another look at your lovely cozy - it is so beautiful and so relaxing to look at.

I think your socks are beautiful. I love the colors. Jaydens is beautiful. Well, they all are, but it is her day so she gets top billing. Don't you just love those first steps.

I absolutely *love* your socks, they look fantastic! And I actually think that the way yours turned out, with the pooling and everything, looks way better than the ones you put the link for on. I think the difference must be due to the different dyeing of the yarn, but then again, if I think more about it, it could also be a matter of the gauge. Anyhow, your socks are awesome!

Probably gauge. I blame it for everything. I like the socks though! Very spring like!

And I can't tell you how much I dig the teacozy. I want to wear it on my head! Sending winning vibes your way. If it doesn't win I really want to see what was done that could possibly beat it!

It is amazing how the same yarn and pattern can produce such different-looking socks. I'm adding "flashing" and "pooling" to my list of knitblog lingo, and linking to this post and to eyeknit's as well.

Gorgeous Tea Cozy! My name is not too original, but one that jumped into my head upon first sight

"Home on the Range" Though I guess a teakettle goes on the range, not the teapot, but oh well ;)

Crazy difference in the socks!
One is such a wonderful age. So cute and cuddly and so interested in their world. I hope Jayden had a great birthday.

Ok, Jayden can't be a year already! She's growing fast! What a beautiful little lady!

Hello Rhonda,

Heidi directed me to your site when she read that I was opening a weaving, knitting, spinning stained glass shop in Upper Peninsula of MI. We are on another forum together (thunderbucks). I have to tell you I LOVE your tea cozy!! Sorry I can't help with the name of it, heck I asked the groupies on Thunderbucks for suggestions for my store name!!! LOL :-)

Anyway, your site is great and your work is superb!! Keep your needles working, and have a great day.

I like the Trekking yarn you have chosen. Also, your stitching library; I am afraid books are one of my addictions. Have you heard of Library Thing? It's pretty neat for cataloging books.
